Open Streets Muskogee at Localmotion

  • Muskogee Depot District Muskogee, OK, 74401 United States (map)

Open Streets Muskogee is a local health and wellness event in collaboration with Muskogee Parks and Rec Localmotion that will “reclaim” part of the Depot District on Elgin on September 23rd from 11am – 1pm for non-motorized activity. Everyone is invited to walk, bike, skate or board while participating in activity hubs, meeting local business owners, and celebrating the unique charm of our historic community.

Community partners can participate in several ways:

1. Provide a free service to community participants in one of our activity hubs – Relaxation, Play & Be Active. No set up fee!
2. Provide a booth with free information about one of our event focus areas: Play, Active Living, Relaxation, Safety and Healthy Eating. No set up fee!
3. Can we plan on your participation? Please respond back by no later than Friday, September 15th 2023.
4. Last but not least……Volunteer to help – people make things happen!

Activity Zone: The Active Zone is focused on providing resources and activities to create a place for free play for both kids and adults. This zone will also provide resources for the community to become more physically active. These activities will range from hopscotch and musical chairs all the way to Zumba and Fitness challenges.

Relaxation Zone: The Relaxation Zone will focus on providing resources related to self‐care and relaxation methods. This may include activities such as Yoga, coloring, massage, painting, food, etc.

Open Streets Muskogee will look somewhat like a block party, but the purpose is permanent change. When more residents choose active transportation, we begin to build a healthier community. A more active community will produce more foot traffic for the local economy and an interest in shaping the areas we live, work, and play.
